In the Spotlight

Have you ever been on a stage in a spotlight? Total darkness... blinding light? I remember the days when I had to be in the right place and just wait for the light to come on.. It wasn't gradual, it was BANG! ON! Your pupils don't have enough time to adjust, but you can't react, you have to act.

The funny thing about a spotlight is that inches away is dark. There is a "gray" area, but outside that area is darkness, black darkness, dark darkness. In the dark, you may not see others around you, but you do know who is in the spotlight. You can't miss them.

The other side of a spotlight is there is someone controlling it. They are following the person that is in the spotlight. If you are a good "spotlighter", then you will plan where the person in the spotlight will be at all times. You will plan exactly where and when and how they will go from here to there. The spotlighter really has to be ahead of the person in the spotlight. There has to be a plan.

Another spotlight fact is that you can make the light go into different shapes. rectangle, square, round, pinpointy. The different shapes help the audience to see whatever is necessary.

Ok, the spotlight... it is kind Seinfeld-ish huh?

The High Priest went into the Holy of Holies once a year. He couldn't touch anything in the room, just in case he did he had a rope with bells tied around his ankle in case he were to die he could be pulled out of the room. And if he became scared, that he has to realize he may die. He came in with the atonement sacrifice for all of Israel. He was in the spotlight. What did it look like? Did he hear the voice of God? What was it like to go in and do your duty? There was no place to hide, You were there alone with God. In the spotlight.

Each Sunday we are before God and we in the spotlight. He is waiting for us to just even show up. He is waiting for us to give of our best. To sing that song in His light. He waits for us. To react to prayer; to listen to a sermon. All in the spotlight, all reasons for our being there. The decision time and the time for our choices to be made. The communion time and offering time the light is on, but this time on our hearts.

God is not going to force anyone to do anything, but He does see what we do and think. We are in the spotlight of His love.

It was a once a year gig. He he had to prepare himself to go in to the Holy of Holies. It was no turning back or kllllllllllllllllrrkkrrrrrrrrrrrrr g
